William H. Buckman
President/Attorney
Bill Buckman is hailed as one of the most skillful, tenacious and dedicated
criminal-defense attorneys in New Jersey. He is also a seasoned civil rights
lawyer with a comprehensive list of successful cases that have received
nationwide attention.
Mr. Buckman has kept a constant focus on the relationship between the
individual and large organizations, particularly government.
One of Buckman's most notable case came in 1995, when he was one of the lead
attorneys to build a case against the New Jersey State Police for the racial
profiling of drivers on the New Jersey Turnpike (State vs. Soto). The
published opinion in the Soto case has been cited nationwide
as a precedent for challenging racially based profiles.
For his tireless work, Bill has been awarded:
• The Roger N. Baldwin Civil Liberties Award from the ACLU of New Jersey
• The Justice Award from the Black Ministers' Council of New Jersey
• The Mary Philbrook Award for Public Interest Work from the Rutgers Law
School - Camden Women's Law Caucus
• The Professional Lawyer of the Year Award - Designee from the
Burlington County Bar Association
• The Presidential Award for Furthering the Cause of Civil Rights, Southern Gloucester County Chapter of NAACP
Bill is on the board of trustees for the National Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers and the president of the Association of Criminal
Defense Lawyers of New Jersey as well as a member of the Board of Trustees
of the ACLU of N.J. He is an active speaker, lecturing to lawyers
nationwide. |

Lilia Londar
Attorney
Lilia Londar joined the William H. Buckman Law Firm in September of 2008. Her practice areas include civil rights litigation and criminal defense. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Londar clerked for the Honorable Barbara C. Stolte, J.S.C. in Superior Court of New Jersey, Criminal Division in Middlesex County.
Ms. Londar graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Russian Studies and Modern European History. Additionally, while pursuing her undergraduate degree, she studied at Oxford University, England.
Upon graduating college Ms. Londar went on to obtain her Juris Doctor as well as a Master of Studies in Environmental Law degrees from Vermont Law School. While studying law, Ms. Londar focused on civil rights and environmental issues. |

Wayne Natale
Of Counsel
During his years at Rutgers Law School, Mr. Natale served as the Research Editor for the Rutgers Camden Law Journal and authored a published article addressing the powers of The United States Attorney General under Title VII of the 1968 Civil Rights Act.
Upon graduating Rutgers cum laude, Mr. Natale began employment with The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) in Cincinnati as a field attorney where he represented the federal government in the investigation and prosecution of unfair labor practices under the National Labor Relations Act.
Mr. Natale transferred his employment with the NLRB to the Office Of The Public Defender for the State Of New Jersey retiring in 2006. He served as the First Assistant Public Defender for the Gloucester County region for 17 years. During that time, he represented defendants charged with |
serious indictable offenses including murder, armed robbery, aggravated sexual assault and first-degree allegations of drug manufacturing and distribution.
After his service as Public Defender, he practiced land use law, representing developers in their applications before municipal planning and zoning boards of adjustment. He was also appointed as solicitor for a local zoning board of adjustment. During his tenure, he negotiated significant contributions for The Council on Affordable Housing municipal obligations.
In September 2008, Natale became Of Counsel to the William H. Buckman Law Firm. His practice continues to emphasize criminal defense, civil rights and land use matters. He has known Mr. Buckman for over 30 years both professionally and personally and is very proud to have this opportunity. |
